IVADELL WILLIAMSON
Ivadell Williamson nee Ferguson, in whose honour the camp is named, was married to Rev. Newton Williamson for 45 years. Ivadell lived and laboured on the camp site, Grey's Point, for many years. This humble but yet giant of a lady loved and cared for many children including her 13 offsprings of one father.
Ivadell was a woman who held a strong faith in God and served as an organist at the nearby New Hope Baptist Church where her husband pastored.
"Iva" as she was affectionately called by her husband, was humble, quiet, compassionate, faithful, generous, and a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Ivadell along with her husband, Rev. Newton Williamson, had agreed with their daughter-in-law Kate Williamson to have a Christian summer camp on the island where children from the capital, New Providence, would come for a visit.
Ivadell passed away on May 30, 1999 at the age of 64 and was not able to see this dream come alive. Hence the camp was named in her honour.
